Capacitor needs

by Daniel
(Salt Lake City, UT, USA)

My son and his friend just installed a replacement stereo system (2001 Mitsubishi Gallant, I believe a 6 volt battery). Large sub-woofers and an amplifier were installed with the radio. They hooked up a large capacity power wire directly to the battery positive post. Ever since that power sucking unit went in, the car on occasion has cut out and lost power to the engine (either spark or fuel injector operation) and caused serious driving danger. Is this a coincidence or is there another issue with the car? Is the problem the amplifier and the big speakers it's driving? The service engine light comes on and the problem code states the probable issues are the ones I just mentioned with the spark and or injectors. Would an audio capacitor eliminate this problem?
