capacitor with speaker

i am currently building a bass box and was thinking about how should i connect my capacitors..since neither the stereo has the negative or positive indications and nor the speakers..??one more thing i have to connect it between the amp and speaker in series right?..i mean from the stereo to the speaker but before the speaker..

any suggestions on what capacitance should i use for a 250 watt speaker..
