Car audio crossover - why use one

A car audio crossover is used to split frequencies. A certain range of frequencies is sent to each speaker. Crossovers are often ignored, but they are an important part of your car audio system.

Without a car audio crossover you may end up damaging your speakers. For example, tweeters are designed to play the highest frequencies. If they are made to play low frequencies or bass, they will produce distortion and eventually they will be destroyed. This can be easily avoided with a crossover. The crossover will send only high frequencies to your tweeter.

Crossovers are also used to avoid frequency overlap in your car stereo system. Let's say you're using a subwoofer that plays from 20 to 1000 Hz, and full range speakers that play from 60 Hz to 20,000 Hz. There will be an overlap of frequencies between 50 Hz and 1000 Hz. The levels will be higher in this overlap region and this will result in an unbalanced system. A crossover takes care of this easily.

You will find an audio crossover that meets your needs online easily. There are many brands to choose from. They include Pioneer, Pyle, Boss Audio, Sound Storm, SPL, Thump, Ultra Linear, Digital Audio, Legacy, Logic, MA Audio, Mobile Authority, Pyramid , Visonik and lots more. You can order one today.
